Scots ask minister for sheep support
THE National Farmers Union of Scotland (NFUS) is lobbying Scottish rural affairs minister Ross Finnie for support to the sheep sector.
NFUS representatives met Mr Finnie this week and pressed for transitional arrangements for next years Hill Livestock Compensatory Allowance.
It wants a disposal scheme to reduce high ewe numbers because so many of the animals were kept on last year on the expectation of some market recovery.
The union is also calling for action to stimulate the export market.
