Scots landowners protest to Wallace
SCOTLANDS landowners are continuing to protest against the Scottish Executives proposals for land reform.
The owners of four north-east estates insist that the Executive is not taking seriously the consultation process.
Dalhousie Estates, Dunecht Estates, Seafield Estates and the BMF Group have written to Scottish justice minister Jim Wallace expressing concern that the Executive seems set on ignoring public responses.
The estate owners believe the Executive is forging ahead regardless of public opinion, with proposals that will be a severe detriment to Scotland.
Almost a fortnight ago, the Scottish Landowners Federation denounced the consultation as a sham.
This followed the announcement that crofting communities are to be given a “special” right to buy their land.
