Scots meat promo body launched

QUALITY Meat Scotland, the new body to co-ordinate the promotion of beef, lamb and pigmeat north of the border, is officially launched today (31 March).

Despite holding its first board meeting last week, chaired for the day by vice-chairman, Donald Biggar, the new organisation still has no chairman or chief executive.

Integrating the beef and lamb promotion work done by SQBLA and the activities of the Scottish Pig Industry Initiative (SPII) is expected to take about six months.
