Scottish beef ‘welcome in Paris’

THE concept of the Scottish Beef Club would be a welcome addition to the Paris restaurant, according to the Meat & Livestock Commissions French representative.

The Herald reports the comment in response to stories that Scottish slaughterhouses are wary of chasing the export trade because of likely limited demand.

The fear has been prompted by the difficulties Northern Ireland has found in exports: just 45% of the elegible animals qualify.

Scottish beef industry experts believe the figure needs to be nearer 90%.
