Scottish Co-op joins quality meat scheme
THE Scottish Co-operative Society has become the first supermarket chain to gain membership of the Guild of Scotch Quality Meat Suppliers.
It joins an elite band of independent butchers in guaranteeing exacting levels of meat hygiene and preparation.
It will now sell only Scottish products at its 45 butchery counters. The co-ops head of meat buying Garry Cronie said it was evidence of unrivalled support for Scottish farmers.
