Shadow resigns

OPPOSITION farm minister Michael Jack has resigned from the Shadow Cabinet to concentrate on his business career. He is replaced by Suffolk South MP Tim Yeo, who was the Conservatives environment spokesman.

Mr Yeo was a junior environment minister in the last government until he resigned his post in 1994 amid allegations that he had fathered an illegitimate child.

Mr Jack, a junior farm minister between 1993-95, is the MP for Fylde, Lancs. Before being elected to parliament in June 1987, he worked for Proctor and Gamble and then Marks and Spencer.
