Sheep quota values flounder
By FWi staff
SHEEP quota values are floundering as the trading period comes to an end.
The biggest drop has been seen in leasing values, which are now trading at 25p a unit, with some big lots still making 50p a unit.
Quota to buy is holding up a little better, says ADAS quota consultant Mark Jones, at 3 a unit, but there is little available.
“It appears that most producers are cashing in on buoyant prime lamb values,” he says.
“Most are taking advantage of better prices and selling stock now for the extra 15-20, rather than waiting for 10 sheep annual premium that will not be paid until the end of the year.”
