‘Shoppers out of touch with seasons’
SHOPPERS are so spoiled for choice of food from around the world that they have lost touch with nature, according to a MORI poll.
Seven out of 10 consumers do not know the harvest times for fruit and vegetables, says the survey which was commissioned by the National Farmers Union (NFU).
The survey, of 2032 adults, showed that one in two did not know when to expect new potatoes or when English apples were harvested.
The results have prompted the NFU into printing calendars of the growing seasons which will be distributed to shoppers next week.
