Shorthorns to 4400gns
A SON of the Royal Show champion Tofts Romany led the Beef Shorthorn trade at 4400gns.
From Jim and Donald Biggar, Castle Douglas, this animal was snapped up by Blackford Farms.
Gerald Turton, who runs the Upsall herd at Thirsk, North Yorks, paid 4000gns for the champion, Loch Awe Lysander from Carey Coombs, Lanarkshire. The bull stood junior bull champion at last years Royal HighlandShow.
The Shorthorn average eased slightly on the year, with 16 bulls levelling £2185.
