Siberia comes up trumps again

“ITS got Dalgetys to jump up with joy,” jokes Dorset farmer Bob Rowe, commenting on his crop of Siberia feed barley.

Weighbridge yield is 10.7t/ha and it was harvested at 13% moisture.

“It is the first time I have grown Siberia and it has done extremely- it was a bit hard to thresh but, apart from that, Im pleased.” They have combined 39ha (93 acres) of the crop.

Sixteen hectares (40 acres) of Maplas industrial oilseed rape has yielded 3.4t/ha (1.4t/acre). 35ha (86 acres) of Gemini has yielded 4.6t/ha (1.9t/acre). These represent good yields for the farm.

They also have 150ha (370 acres) of peas, 350ha (865 acres) of wheat and 200ha (495 acres) of spring barley on the chalk-based land.
