Small fillip in July tractor sales on 99
TRACTOR registrations for July reveal a slight recovery when compared with the same month last year, according to the latest figures released by the Agricultural Engineers Association (AEA).
Sales of tractors over 40hp rose by just 0.8% to 1305 units bringing the year to date figure to 6598 units.
AEA director general Jake Vowles believes tractor sales in the year to date have followed a similar trend as the same period last year.
"For the first week of each month this year, tractor sales have taken a slight dip, mirroring last years pattern," he says. "With the continuing strength of the £ and lower farm incomes, I see no reason why overall tractors sales for 2000 should be significantly different from 1999."
