Smaller dragon still breathes fire

WEED Dragon Flaming, known in farming circles for its gas-fired desiccating implements for commercial potato crops, has now scaled down the system for use in horticultural operations.

The Weed Dragon comprises a small trolley loaded with a propane gas cylinder and a torch unit. The trolley, shod on wide tyres is claimed to be easy to tow along over most ground surfaces.

In operation the ignited torch is used to heat a weeds plants cells to over 90C, which only takes a few seconds, says the maker.

The result is that the cell walls burst causing the plant to stop photosynthesising and die.
