Snowdon fund hits £4.16m target
By FWi staff
THE National Trust has succeeded in its multi-million pound bid to buy part of Snowdon.
More than 250,000 people have donated £4.16 million to buy over 4000 acres of the mountain, including part of the summit, which will now become National Trust land.
The announcement that the target had been reached was made by the actor Sir Anthony Hopkins, who kick-started the fund with a £1m donation.
The appeal was launched after landowner Richard Williams granted the National Trust 100 days to raise at least £3m for the 4000-acre estate.
