Solutions arrive at Lo-till 2001

By Tom Allen-Stevens reporting from Lo-Till 2001

Exhibitors are turning up to the Lo-Till event site with some of the most exciting and innovative minimum tillage kit ever seen, says the events organiser.

Im delighted at the response weve had from the trade for such a focused and practical event, Event organiser Andy Newbold told FWi on Thursday (6 September).

Theres a lot of metal here, but theres also a lot of good ideas that will suit everyone, whether you have a 100hp tractor or a Case Quadtrac.

Last weeks Tillage event in Wiltshire had a reportedly poor turnout due to the late harvest, but record pre-bookings have been made for Lo-till 2001.

One of the highlights is set to be Knights new lo-till kit, including its new subsoiler.

One thing that has to be seen to be believed is Knights Triple Press that now incorporates a Stocks seeder, so that you can sow oilseed rape in one pass.

Many manufacturers have brought disc systems which now incorporate rear-mounted, folding press wheels.

Also on show will be Amazones Airstar Primera drill and the new Centaur, with four rows of spring tines, two of serrated discs, and press wheels on the back.

But this event is about solutions, not just products. There is a full seminar program with advice from top experts, points out Mr Newbold.

The UK top slug supremo Professor David Glen will be talking on how to keep the pests from ruining a crop.

Masstock will be bringing results of min till trials work to the event, while Steve Townsend will be helping growers choose the right kit for the job.

Those who come tomorrow should come away knowing a little more about how to get the crop in the ground as efficiently as possible, says Mr Newbold.
