Son of MBTrac set for UK debut

SUCCESSOR of the MB Trac – the Trac – is set to make a long-awaited reappearance on British soils. It is now being imported by machinery dealer Reed UK.
Based at Melksham, Wilts, Reed UK will distribute the latest four-model Trac range from German manufacturer Doppstadt.
The Trac series was originally distributed by East-Yorks importer BassAgri which ceased trading last year.
"The Trac embodies the reliability and performance of original MB Trac models with modern design features and components," says Thomas Reed who runs the dealership with his father. "We have sold three tractors and aim to put out another 15 this year and perhaps double this amount in 2003."
Mr Reed believes the machines, with their Mercedes engines, 30mph transmission and 4t load capacity, will eventually re-establish the tractors once sizeable share of the UK systems tractor market.
Filling out the four pack is the 80hp, 150hp, 180hp and 200hp models, while 150hp and 180hp versions will be introduced later this year.
Mr Reed says he intends to recruit what he describes as exclusive agents to sell the tractors. *
