South Devon sets a record

HATHERLEIGH market, Devon, produced a new record price for South Devon cattle last week when 6200gns was paid for a bull at the dispersal of Tony Masons Hindsloders herd.

The six-year-old Hindsloders Hadrian 9th, by Grove Hadrian and out of Coombe Farm Buttercup 25th, was the 1994 bull of the year and has been widely used in pedigree herds through the MLC young bull proving scheme.

He will become senior herd sire for Dorset breeders David and Jane Hedgeman who now run one of the countrys largest South Devon herds. (Vicks)n
