Spanish farmers to be paid £3.9m for toxic spill

BOLIDEN, a Canadian-Swedish mining company, is to pay an estimated $6.5 million (£3.9m) to farmers in southern Spain for crop losses caused by last months toxic spill.

Contaminated waste from a breached dam at its Los Frailes mine, close to Seville, contaminated more than 2,100ha (5,189 acres) of river and farmland.
