Split hits CAP reform on first day of talks

FARM ministers were sharply divided as talks on reform of EU Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) began yesterday.

Germany, Netherlands and Belgium criticised budgetary changes; while Sweden and the UK supported CAP reform, which the European Commission believes is essential if central European states and Cyprus are to become EU members.
