Spud seed exports
SEED potatoes of varieties such as Carlingford and Saxon from breeder Cygnet PB are to be exported to Spain and Portugal by Greenvale AP under an agency contract deal.
A strategy of using local trials, professional linguists and expert agronomists has helped win orders for the Scottish seed in place of seed from other origins, such as Holland, says Greenvale seed and export director Peter Peebles.
If similar initiatives in France, Hungary, Turkey, Greece, North Africa and the Near East secure sales, Greenvale AP will also take over UK production of the seed under licence from Cygnet PB. *
