Straights prices settle

STRAIGHTS prices appear to have settled this week following their dramatic surge last week.

Distillers dried imported meal crept up £1 to £98/tonne, while maize gluten imported pellets and meal also rose £1 to £86/t. Home-produced pellets were withdrawn from the market altogether as merchants sold out.

“There will be no more home-produced pellets from source until January now,” said David Clark of KW Agriculture. “However, some merchants may still have some, and deliveries are possible for November and December subject to availability.”

Palm kernel Malindo was the biggest climber of the week, rising £6 to £77/t. Rapeseed meal climbed £4/t on the back of tight supplies. “Its not possible to buy from Hull at present, and one large shipper is rapidly running low,” said Mr Clark.

Both soya bean meal hi-pro and Brazilian 48% pellets and meal firmed, inching up £2 to £136/t and £128/t respectively.
