AILING US banana company Chiquita Brands International is suing the EU Commission for 564 million ($519m) damages, reports the Financial Times.
Chiquita claims it has suffered under restrictions introduced in 1999 under a new EU import regime.
The company, which has been fighting different EU schemes for eight years, recently announced it could not make payments on $862m publicly traded debt.
