Sudan rain insufficient to relieve famine


THE summer rains that were supposed to bring relief to famine-gripped southern Sudan have been scattered and inconsistent, reports The Guardian.


Farmers in some parts sowed seeds too early and others have not yet planted because of lack of seeds or lack of rainfall. While others are too weak or have given up hope.
