Suffolk record for Aber

A CENTRE record of 7500gns was paid at Abergavenny last week when a Suffolk ram lamb topped the trade at the breed societys regional show and sale.

The lamb came from John Sinnetts Stockton flock. By Cairness The Best and out of a Pankymoor Prelude ewe, it won the performance recorded ram lamb class and stood male champion under judge John Campbell, Alnwick. Buyer was Mrs D Pennell, Worcester. The nine Stockton lambs averaged £1582.

"Commercial buyers missed some outstanding rams at sensible prices," said auctioneer Lyndon Trumper.

AVERAGES: 109 ram lambs £569; 13 shearling rams £439; 13 ewe lambs £287 and 14 shearling ewes £251. (J Straker Chadwick and Sons)
