Sutton Place back

SUTTON Place, the extravagantly spectacular former Getty mansion on the A3 in Surrey, is back on the market.

Bought in 1986 for £8m by the American Frederick Koch, the property is alleged to have had a further £12m spent on it, and is now seeking £18m through Cluttons.

This fine estate, dating from the 16th century and offered with 775 acres, has experienced a string of wealthy, often reclusive and usually eccentric occupants. This century they have included Lord Northcliffe, founder of the Daily Mail, the 5th Duke of Sutherland, Paul Getty, and American timber and oil magnate Stanley Seeger.

One of the finest examples of renaissance architecture, the grounds include orchards with 160 varieties of English apples. &#42
