Swan reduces auctioneering staff

JOHN SWAN & Sons, auctioneers at St Boswells and Edinburgh, is cutting its auctioneering staff from nine to five. The cut follows the news that one of its senior auctioneers, Willie Blair, is to be made redundant.

Frank Forrest and Kenny Robertson are to stop auctioneering and concentrate on generating increased income. The company is also making redundant Peter Ritchie, who has been in charge of the companys Cygnet division.

Swan reported pre-tax profits for the year to 30 April of £228,130, against the record £514,358 in the previous account.
