T-sum 200 here for most…
KEMIRA T-sum 200 has arrived for most areas of the UK. Those still to reach the cumulative temperature when nitrogen fertiliser should be applied to grassland for maximum efficiency are the northern central Highlands of Scotland, the Scottish southern uplands and the Cumbrian mountains. Even in these areas, T-sum 200 is forecast to arrive about one week ahead of average.
The mild and wet conditions that have produced this early year for most regions, also inhibit the firming of ground conditions to allow fertiliser application. Be careful and only go onto fields when ground conditions allow. There is normally a two to three week period of grace after the arrival of T-sum 200 when fertiliser nitrogen applications will attain 90% plus efficiency in use compared with applications at T-sum 200 itself.
As most areas have reached or are nearly at T-sum 200 this will be the last report. The progress of T-sum 200 can also be monitored on farmers weekly Interactive under the weather section (www.fwi.co.uk).
