Tanker aids treatment
CONTINUED interest in ammonia treated straw has prompted Hydro Nutrition to develop a stainless steel application tanker.
The 12,000-litre (2639gal) trailed unit has been developed on a 15t sprung chassis and includes air braking, lending suitability for use with "fast tractors".
"We are looking to provide contractors with a one-stop approach to straw treatment," explains Hydro Nutritions Max Ford. "It makes sense for contractors to offer their customers the technical advice and the treatment process in addition to baling and wrapping."
The £13,400 tanker can also be used as a bowser for water, liquid fertiliser and most chemicals.
Mr Ford reckons about 120,000t of winter wheat straw are treated annually, offering on average, 8-10% crude protein and a metabolisable energy value of 8MJ/kg dry matter.n
