Ten bulls go for 3000gns plus

BULL buying may not traditionally be a mid-summer priority – but beef producers continue to make substantial investments, with 10 bids of 3000gns and over at last weeks Limousin offering at Carlisle.

Sons of Broadmeadows Cannon were among the most sought after and achieved the 5800gns leading bid from C Harle and Sons, Co Durham. This secured the 29-month-old Scarcliffe Lester from I R Wildgoose, Chesterfield.

The Daim-sired Greensons Mariner, from D and K M Green and Sons, Cambridge, made 5300gns to A and B Morgan, Swansea.

And Scorboro Marquis, a son of the twice Paris Show champion Dimitri, went to breeders R and R Gornall for their Dokra herd. He was consigned by Jim Bloom, Driffield.

AVERAGES: 65 bulls £2275, up £329 on the year. (Harrison and Hetherington)
