Tesco launches UK bacon promotion
TESCO launched a new bacon range this week which, the retailer claims, will boost to about 60% the proportion of bacon rashers it sources in Britain.
Previously, British bacon represented only about 30% of the supermarket chains sales of rashers. The country imports 70% of its bacon because, according to Tesco, the domestic market cannot satisfy market demand.
Ladies in Pigs (LIPs), an industry promotion body, will help Tesco launch its "Traditional" range over the next few weeks with tastings and demonstrations in selected stores. *
