TFA says no official commitment to help

THE government may have recognised the difficulties of farmers but has failed to deliver any policies to help, according to the Tenant Farmers Association.

Speaking at the TFAs annual general meeting yesterday (Thurs) chairman Reg Haydon said the emphasis on free market policies was all one way.

"The free market policies of this government are not even-handed, they do not consider the competition and they leave us more and more exposed in a market place which is increasingly stacked against us."

Farmers were increasingly told that they must be more willing to operate in a free market environment. But mounting regulation was pushing them towards that free market "with both arms tied behind their backs", he said. &#42
