Severe weather over the past week has forced the cancellation of the CLA Game Fair while show goers at the Royal Welsh show are reporting difficult conditions.
Organisers of the CLA Game Fair made the decision to cancel this year’s event due to severe weather seen last Friday. The Fair was due to open at Harewood House, nr Leeds this Friday (27 July).
Adverse and worse than predicted weather which hit the Harewood Estate during Friday and Saturday (20 & 21 July) defeated all the efforts the organisers had made in preparing the site for the show.
The site was faring well up to Friday, despite weeks of heavy rain. The site is now saturated with water lying in all areas of the showground regardless of the ditches which have been dug to drain as much excess as possible.
One show goer at the Royal Welsh show at Bullith Wells described conditions as “difficult”.
“The car parks are ankle deep in mud,” the visitor told Farmers Weekly.
Another visitor reported taking an hour to cover seven miles. “It’s partly due to queues, but also the trouble in getting people parked is causing difficulties.”
