The original fast tractor?

By Farmers Weekly staff

A 1958 Fordson Major has been caught doing 87mph down the M1, according to Northamptonshire Police.

Gary Porter, from Woburn Sands, confessed that the number plate caught by the motorway speed camera matched the one on his vintage tractor.

“I have to admit I put a more powerful Ford industrial engine in which increases its top speed – but only from 13mph to 15mph.

“Im still 75mph short of the recorded speed,” said Mr Porter.

Police agreed it was a case of mistaken identity.
