Thompson takes out Usbornes fertilisers
USBORNE has accepted an unconditional cash offer from Thompson Acquisitions for the 25% of the fertiliser group not already owned by Thompson Investments. Thompson Investments and Thompson Acquisitions are vehicles for David Thompson, Hillsdown Holdings founder.
The 25p-a-share offer values Usborne at £10.7 miilion. The shares are expected to be delisted after completion.
Usborne announced pre-tax profits 38% lower at £257,000 for the half year to the end of 1997.
