Three vie for NFUS vice-presidency
THREE candidates for the vice-presidency of the National Farmers Union of Scotland gave presentations to a recent meeting.
These are John Kinnaird, Malcolm Morrison and Peter Stewart.
Mr Kinnaird, chairman of the legal and technical committee, emphasised the inter-dependence of all sectors.
He also expressed concern about the Scottish Executives plans for land reform.
Mr Morrison, chairman of the livestock committee, expressed disappointment with the Scottish parliament because it did not see agriculture as the centre of the rural economy.
Mr Stewart, who is seeking re-election as vice-president, said the big objective was to secure an unblocking of Treasury funding so the industry could get the compensation to which it was entitled.
