TOP price was 2000gns at the Welsh Black Cattle Societys Dolgellau show and sale lastweek.
This came for Rhydygarnedd Deiniol 10th, consigned by Mrs Sarah Tudor from her herd at Bryncrug, Tywyn. This Dec 1995-bred son of Deiniolen Beb stays locally with buyer R J Roberts, Dysefin, Tywyn.
Taking the champion bull title under judge Mr Emyr Jones, Bala, was Harlech breeder Mrs Elwyn Pryce Evans Gerddi Egrynwr 3rd. This made 1700gns to I Evans, Hengwrt, Dolgellau. The bull was AI bred by Foel John 7th.
One of the youngest bulls on parade was Caran Cawr 28th from D Bennett Jenkins, Talybont. This de-horned yearling, born in Mar 1996, is by Neuadd Cawr 174th, and made 1800gns to R Jones, Ysguboriau.
Best bid for stock from Mrs Gwenfair Jones and Sons herd at Hafod-yr-Esgob Isaf, Bala, was 1500gns give for Hafodesgob Gwynedd 2nd, a son of Cader Rhidian, taken by Mr Jones, Talybont, Bangor.
Leading the females at 920gns was Mrs Emily Jenkins maiden heifer Collen Nell 31st, a Iwrch Goliath daughter from her herd at Taliesin, Machynlleth, that heads for the University College at Aberystwyth.
Champion female was Caran Anna 2nd from D Bennett Jenkins, Talybont. Buyer at 880gns was W E Jones, Ronnen, Talsarau.
