Tories’ 1000 in rural shop pledge

RURAL shops and post offices would receive a 1,000 cut in rates under a Conservative government, reports The Daily Telegraph.

The Tories say they will give rural businesses relief on top of Labours promise to extend a 50% council tax cut in its Rural White Paper.

They also suggest that parish councils be given powers to spend additional resources from the Government on additional police or night patrols.

Other proposed initiatives include limiting quarrying to what the countryside can stand, and setting standards on light pollution.
