Traceability boost
IRISH beef producers are stepping up their traceability programmes as they attempt to increase market share in the UK and other outlets.
Next month sees the launch of the new Cattle Movement Monitor-ing System in the Republic, recording all movements of cattle between farms, marts, meat factories and export terminals.
The scheme will form part of a wider, compulsory national beef assurance scheme incorporating the entire meat chain, to be phased in over the next few months. *
