Tractor driver airlifted to hospital after motorway crash

A man is in a critical but stable condition in hospital after his tractor fell from an overbridge onto the central reservation of the M20 near Wrotham, Kent Police said.

Officers were called at 11.17am on Monday to the A227 Gravesend Road following a single-vehicle incident in which the tractor became separated from its trailer.

The vehicle fell onto the central reservation between junctions two and three of the M20 motorway.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service and South East Coast Ambulance Service attended the scene alongside police.

The injured man was airlifted to hospital, and his next of kin have been informed of his condition.

Initial enquiries have established the incident involved only the tractor and its trailer.

Both the A227 and the M20 were temporarily closed while emergency crews worked to make the area safe and recover the tractor and trailer.

Both carriageways have since reopened to traffic.
