Tractor driver arrested over A-road death crash

A tractor driver has been arrested following a four-vehicle collision on the A141 in which a motorist died.
The accident happened at about 5.10am on Wednesday (28 November) on the Isle of Ely Way, in Chatteris, Cambridgeshire.
The driver of a blue Toyota Hybrid, Phillip Moore, 66, of High School Close, March, was taken to Peterborough City Hospital in an ambulance but died en route.

Mr Moore was a lifelong supporter of Cambridge City Football Club. He had many friends at the club and would “wear his scarf with great pride”.
In a statement paying tribute, vice-chairman Terry Dunn said: “I speak on behalf of everyone connected with Cambridge City when I say how shocked, stunned and saddened we are with regards the tragic death of Phil Moore.”
There will be a minute’s silence before Cambridge City’s home game against Sutton Coldfield on Saturday afternoon (1 December).
Two lorries were involved in the collision – a Scania HGV and a DAF – but neither of their drivers were injured.
JCB driver arrested
The driver of a JCB tractor and trailer, a 34-year-old man from Chatteris, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by driving without due care and attention while under the influence of drugs. He was taken to Thorpe Wood Police Station for questioning.
Anyone who witnessed the collision or saw any of the vehicles involved just before the incident is asked to call police on 101, quoting incident 43 of 28 November. Alternatively, report any information online.
The road was closed for several hours to allow for police investigation work and removal of the vehicles.
