IMPROVING feed value and the aerobic stability of baled silages is possible with the launch of DoubleAction Ecobale, an acid and inoculant in one, says manufacturer Ecosyl.
Fermentation, digestibility, intake and animal performance are said to be improved by the bacterial strain MTD/1 when used on baled grass, legume and cereal/ legume bi-crop silages.
BSTAT/2 is also included to minimise harmful bacteria, such as clostridia, reducing risks to animal health. The two bacterial strains work in conjuction to reduce listeria numbers in bales, adds the company.
The preservative potassium sorbate is included to improve aerobic stability to prevent undesirable bacteria and yeasts and moulds that cause spoilage.
The product has tank-mix stability of up to 48 hours. One container treats 33t of grass, costing £1.90/t to treat. (01642-718813, fax 01642-714422).
