Two-ear tagging enforced from today

ALL cattle born from 1 January, 1998 must be fitted with a tag in each ear from today (15 April) under the new Cattle Identification Regulations 1998 (SI 871).

Both tags must have the same identification number. One must be an approved primary tag and the other an approved secondary tag. All new cattle must also have a cattle passport.

The requirement for on-farm registers of births, deaths and movements of cattle will continue.
