UK OSR may break record again – HGCA

OILSEED rape could be heading for the record books for the second year running, according to the Home-Grown Cereals Authority.

It suggests the UK could produce 1.6m tonnes from the coming harvest, almost 5% up on last years highest ever output of 1.53m tonnes.

The figure is based on trade predictions of a 10% rise in plantings, and similar yields to the past two years.

New crop prices remain at about £150/t mainly due to good oil prices. Old crop has risen £4-£5/t over the past week to £185/t for the lucky few who still have seed to sell. &#42
