UK Super-Levy Payments Total 14.8M
Milk super-levy for the 1999/2000 year will be 13.5 million for wholesale supplies, according to latest figures from the Intervention Board.
The UK overproduced by 61m litres, and purchasers who are over quota will have to pay about 22ppl on the excess.
This will be clawed back from producers who exceeded their quota allowance. How much individuals will have to pay depends on individual company thresholds, most of which have not yet been confirmed.
Milk Marque estimate that their threshold will be no more than about 1.5%, so most over-quota producers will have to pay up.
Direct sales exceeded quota by 6m litres amounting to a super-levy of 1.3m.
Invoices will be sent out in the next few days and payment is due before 1 September 2000.
Interest will be charged on payments made on or after that date, says the IB.
