Ultimate cultivator all set?

BOMFORD Turner believes it has now developed the ultimate cultivator, an implement which allows the user to add, change or remove elements to suit prevailing soil conditions.

The FieldMaster 400 is a combination cultivator built with a central frame to which different sections can be attached.

For example, a typical set up could include a set of spring tine levelling boards, followed by a bank of rigid tines, a crumbler roller, a bank of spring tines and a packer roller.

Each of these units can be removed or replaced by extracting locking pins. But there is more. Each unit can also be individually adjusted to alter work angle or depth.

On the prototype version most adjustments are made hydraulically through a series of rams, but on production models this is likely to be available as a manual control. For transport, the cultivator is raised on two wheels and folded vertically for a 2.8m (9ft) width.

Bomford says the FieldMaster 400 will be available in limited numbers for this autumns cultivation season, with full production starting in November. Price of the 4m (13ft) version – a 6m (19.7ft) model is planned – starts at about £15,000 depending on specification.
