United raises milk price again
By FWi staff
UNITED MILK has announced a 0.6ppl rise for its standard litre for May, taking the price paid to producers to 20.1ppl.
The new price follows an announcement last week of a 0.7ppl increase for April milk.
Beneficial deals with milk processors, particularly cheese makers, and with the liquid milk sector have made the rise possible, says the farmer-owned businesss.
“This is in line with United Milks policy of returning marketplace gains quickly and transparently to its supplying farmers,” says chief executive Don Morris.
Mr Morris believes that the majority of its suppliers will be able to achieve a price at or very near to its headline milk price.
