US biotech industry slams critics
CARL FELDBAUM, president of the US Biotechnology Industry Association, has delivered a hard-hitting attack on critics of his industry, according to a report in The Independent.
He defended the industrys record, especially in medical research, and said it was inconsistent to embrace the medical benefits while denouncing parallel developments in agriculture.
Meanwhile, George Monbiot, writing in The Guardian, counters with another scathing attack on the UK government committee which monitors GM research.
He says that many members of this committee have a conflict of interest in that they make decisions from which they stand to gain financially and professionally.
