USA scraps kiwi-fruit tariff

WASHINGTON has lifted anti-dumping regulations, in place since 1991, on New Zealand exports of kiwi fruit.

The regulations were imposed after Californian growers complained that the fruit was being dumped on the US market at below the cost of production.

The imposition of tariffs of 98% caused exports to slump from 7 million trays to just 300,000.
