Vote in FWs tackle poll…
THIS century has seen the introduction of numerous mechanical developments – many of which have helped to improve the efficiency, profitability and safety of the farming industry.
There have, however, been some special developments that have made a profound impact on the way farms are run. Take the example of the three-point linkage with its weight transfer system – an invention which radically changed the format of implement operation. And there are others to consider – the combine harvester, sprayer, pneumatic drill – and so on.
With the turn of the century now only months away, we invite you to vote for the machinery development which, in your opinion, has made the most important contribution to farming this century.
To help you, we have listed 10 examples which we believe could be contenders for the award of Machinery Development of the Century, but you may consider there to have been a more important machine.
In the entry form, please state the machine which you consider to have made the greatest impact on farming this century – and state your reason why.
We all so ask you to use your imagination to suggest a machinery development which you believe will make the biggest contribution to farming in the next century.
All entries must be received by Oct 1, 1999, and all will be entered for a prize draw from which three winners will each receive £100.
The results of the competition and the development you voted to be the Machinery Development of the Century will be published in our millennium special supplement on Dec 31.
