NEW electricity wayleave payments will come in to force on Apr 1, 1998.

Increases paid to landowners follow the agreement between electricity companies and farmer organisations in late 1996 covering the period until Apr, 2001.

For example, payments for a single pole are up 3.75% to £4.15 and those for a 9.1 sq m base tower up 10% to £32.70. An 18.3 sq m tower has risen by a similar amount to £83.50.

Rates for occupiers (first three columns in table) are unchanged or marginally changed. Owner occupiers receive both landlord and occupier payments. &#42
