Welding helmet cuts out fumes

WELDING helmets which instantly darken when an arc is struck are not new, but the model now joining the line-up of equipment, available from Spaldings claims to have some interesting additional features.

Lightweight in design – constructed from high temperature resistant Xytel and double-skinned – the new helmet incorporates a carbon dioxide removal system which removes exhaled air without letting in welding fumes. It is a design which is said to offer a cleaner, less claustrophobic and tiring environment for the operator.

The helmets EW12 lens filter is protected by replaceable front and rear plates. Price is £139. (01522 500600)
